When the Future Becomes Reality

Anyone who has seen the 1989 Hollywood film "Back to the Future Part II" will surely be thrilled the moment this video begins. Titled "Lexus has created a real, rideable hoverboard," the main feature captures a scene where one discards their roller skates and steps onto a hoverboard, which floats in the air while emitting smoke.

Is this fake or real? This trailer doesn't confirm the facts, but at the end of the video, the name of Haruhiko Tanahashi, chief engineer for Lexus's first supercar, theLFA, is also mentioned, adding to the intriguing production.

According to Lexus's official website, "Through advanced technology and repeated trial and error, the LEXUS hoverboard, which travels without wear, has been realized. By combining a superconductor cooled with liquid nitrogen and permanent magnets to achieve levitation, Lexus has made the impossible possible."

Furthermore, the design of the hoverboard is said to be inspired by Lexus's iconic spindle grille, incorporating not only various high-tech materials but also natural materials like bamboo.

This video was released today as a trailer for Lexus's global brand advertising campaign, "AMAZING IN MOTION," and this is the fourth installment. The first was "STEPES," featuring a large, 3-meter-tall skeleton figure; the second was "SWARM," with countless drones flying through the night city; and the third was "STROBE", where a light-clad "Lightman" races through the night city. All of them were impactful and likely remain in the memory of many readers. Of course, no CG was used.

Can this hoverboard truly float and ride? The main feature, which we are all curious about, is scheduled for release soon.
