First-Ever Mercedes Cafe and Restaurant Opens!

Mercedes-Benz Connection has been established as a new base to disseminate information and host events related to Mercedes-Benz, aiming to appeal to and penetrate new customer segments. It also marks the first time Mercedes has opened a cafe and restaurant lounge.

The architectural design was handled by Shigeru Kubota, who offers integrated proposals encompassing planning, architectural and interior design, graphic design, product design, urban planning, and landscape design. While the exterior is solid, the interior offers a relaxing space with large windows, a void, and a terrace. Mercedes-Benz Connection is a two-story building, featuring a cafe that opens early on the first floor, a space for selling original Mercedes-Benz merchandise and lifestyle goods, and a restaurant lounge on the second floor.

The cafe and restaurant were produced by Transit General Office, which handles a wide range of projects, including the branding and production of residences, offices, and fashion e-commerce sites, in addition to creating spaces.

Ene-Farm and Solar Power Installed for Environmental Measures

The first-floor cafe, "DOWNSTAIRS COFFEE," offers both dine-in and takeout services from 7 AM to 9 PM, with menu supervision by Hiroshi Sawada, the 2008 Latte Art World Champion and owner of his own specialty coffee store.

On the second floor, "UPSTAIRS" offers seasonal dishes that maximize the natural flavors of ingredients, with menu supervision by Akira Watanabe, owner-chef of popular restaurants such as "AWkitchen." It operates during lunch hours (11 AM to 3 PM), tea time (3 PM to 6 PM), and dinner time (6 PM to 11 PM, until 10 PM on Fridays, Saturdays, and the day before holidays), and on weekends, it stays open until 4 AM. Regular events are also planned.

As part of its environmental initiatives, Mercedes-Benz Connection has installed Ene-Farm, a fuel cell system that generates electricity and hot water, to secure a portion of its power supply.

Furthermore, it is equipped with four wind turbines. The electricity generated is provided as free power to customers at the first-floor cafe. One of these four wind turbines is a hybrid type with solar power and a rechargeable battery, which can be used as an emergency power source during blackouts.

Concept A

Incidentally, from the opening day on July 16th to the 20th, a five-day period,which had its world premiere at the Shanghai Auto Show held in Aprilwas unveiled.the concept model "Concept A,"and the one-off model "B 55" will be exhibited. As both are special vehicles not scheduled for commercial sale, they are certainly worth seeing.
