Finishes 2 Minutes 29 Seconds Ahead of Second Place
This year, Chevrolet Corvette C6.R entered two cars in the GT car category. After a fierce 24-hour battle, the No. 73 Chevrolet Corvette C6.R, driven by Olivier Beretta, Tommy Milner, and Antonio Garcia, outpaced strong competitors from various manufacturers to secure the win, finishing 2 minutes and 29 seconds ahead of the second-place Ferrari. The car also competed alongside the top-tier prototype category, achieving a respectable 11th place overall.
This victory marks Chevrolet's seventh win at Le Mans, occurring 10 years after their first triumph in 2001. Furthermore, it is a particularly memorable year as Chevrolet celebrates its 100th anniversary, making this win a significant honor.
Since the early 20th century, when Chevrolet brand founder Louis Chevrolet himself participated in races with cars he built, Chevrolet has engaged in and won numerous competitions. Upholding the concept that 'Competition is in our DNA,' the company spares no effort in strategy and dedication to achieve victory, utilizing demanding races as proving grounds for new technologies.
Today, in addition to the Le Mans-winning Chevrolet Corvette, the Chevrolet Cruze is achieving strong results in the WTCC (World Touring Car Championship). A race is also scheduled at Suzuka Circuit in Mie Prefecture from October 21st (Friday) to 23rd (Sunday), where similar success to the Corvette is anticipated.
