Grand Prize Winner to Have 3D Model Created

The Children's Art Contest commemorates the 125th anniversary of the Mercedes automobile. It invites children aged 5 to 15 to design "the car they want to ride when they grow up." In addition to this, Mercedes-Benz Japan launched a collaborative project with the Automotive Design Department of Tokyo Communication Art College in January of this year, titled "2036 Mega City Mercedes," engaging with designers from various generations to envision future automobiles.

The grand prize winner will be invited to the Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Center Japan (DEC) studio, where designers will create a 3D model of their winning artwork. Additionally, one gold, silver, and bronze prize will be awarded in each category: "Ages 10 and Under" and "Ages 15 and Under."

Holger Hutzenlaub, head of DEC, expressed his anticipation: "As professional designers and creators of future mobility, I am keenly interested in what the younger generation expects from mobility. Understanding children's visions of the future of automobiles is both fascinating and inspiring. I look forward to soon seeing the cars that Mercedes-Benz's future customers dream of."

The cars of the future, drawn with the boundless imagination of children. It is this "power of dreams" that will likely become the driving force behind new technological advancements.

BRAND HISTORY
When tracing the history of automobiles, we arrive at two German pioneers: Gottlieb Daimler and Karl Benz. It is widely known that between 1885 and 1886, these two men independently developed gasoline-powered automobiles, laying the foundation for the automotive society we know today. Their respective companies were at times seen as rivals, but to overcome the post-World War I recession, they joined forces, leading to the establishment of Daimler-Benz AG in 1926.

The name "Mercedes" given to their products originated when Emil Jellinek, a customer of Daimler's, requested that his eldest daughter's name be used for the vehicles in exchange for taking on overseas sales. This became a registered trademark of Daimler AG in 1902.

Thus, Mercedes and Mercedes-Benz have continued to lead the way in automotive development, actively incorporating cutting-edge technologies such as the safety passenger cell, airbags, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), and Night View, consistently staying at the forefront of the times.
