A Striking Exterior
The exterior of the LF-Gh, Lexus's hybrid concept whose design was partially revealed the other day, has now been unveiled. This model, set to debut at the New York Auto Show, is positioned as the successor to the current GS class. It aims to redefine the premium grand touring sedan and will be on display at North American Lexus dealerships from May 1st.
The announcement primarily focuses on the design concept, with no details provided on the mechanical aspects. According to Lexus, the development of this vehicle began from a completely blank slate.
According to the lead designer, the design expresses the performance and environmental compatibility expected of a premium grand touring sedan, incorporating advanced new technologies. It also boldly presents a vision for the future form of luxury cars in contemporary society.
Perhaps the most distinctive feature of the LF-Gh is its boldly shaped single-frame grille. This is not merely a design element; it is an essential component that contributes to the function of the radiator and brake ducts, achieving superior aerodynamic performance. The shape from the rear quarter panel to the taillights, as well as the contours of the side mirrors and doors, are also optimized for aerodynamics.
Other design highlights include short front overhangs, emotional front fenders emphasizing a low center of gravity, LED daytime running lights, and sharp, angular LED taillights.
While only partial images of the interior have been released, it is claimed to showcase the future direction of Lexus interiors, much like the exterior. The LF-Gh is designed for comfortable long-distance travel for multiple occupants, in keeping with traditional grand touring cars. The luggage compartment is also said to offer ample space for trips.
Currently, only the exterior dimensions and tire sizes have been officially disclosed. The vehicle measures 4,889.5 mm in length, 1,869.44 mm in width, and 1,450.34 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,849.88 mm. The tire sizes are specified as 245/35R20 for the front and 285/30R20 for the rear, notably wide tires for a hybrid vehicle.
