A Classic Coupe Body
Following the recently announced new C-Class Sedan, the coupe model has now been revealed. This C-Class Coupe replaces the CLC (formerly the C-Class Sport Coupe), a three-door hatchback that was previously part of the C-Class lineup, and features a conventional two-door notchback body.
Compared to the sedan, the slightly more compact body is 41mm lower in height, with a short front overhang, a long bonnet, slender C-pillars, a steeply raked front windshield, and a roof that slopes gently towards the rear, embodying a classic coupe silhouette.
Currently, there is no announcement regarding the European specifications. However, the US models will be equipped with two engine options. Both are direct-injection gasoline engines paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission for excellent fuel efficiency. The entry-level C250 features a 1.8-liter inline-4 turbo engine, producing a maximum output of 150 kW (204 ps) at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 310 Nm (31.6 kgm) between 2,200-4,300 rpm. It achieves 0-60 mph in 7.1 seconds, a top speed of 209 km/h, and a combined fuel economy of 24 mpg (10.2 km/ℓ). The higher-grade C350 is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 BlueDirect injection engine, delivering a maximum output of 225 kW (306 ps) at 6,500 rpm and a peak torque of 370 Nm (37.7 kgm) between 3,500-5,250 rpm. It accelerates from 0-60 mph in 5.8 seconds, with a top speed of 209 km/h, the same as the C250. The European combined fuel economy is 22 mpg (9.4 km/ℓ).
The chassis is said to achieve agile handling and a high level of comfort. Under normal driving conditions, it suppresses road noise and vibrations, and automatically adjusts damping force to stabilize the vehicle's posture during high-speed cornering. The suspension system employs MacPherson struts with a three-link setup at the front and a multi-link system at the rear.
Moving to the interior, features such as standard paddle shifters are designed to stimulate a sporty driving spirit. Additionally, in line with recent Mercedes models, a large 5.8-inch display is housed at the top of the center console.
Safety features include 9 airbags, seatbelts with force limiters for all occupants, ABS, Adaptive Highbeam Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and other devices previously found in higher-class models.
Further details regarding pricing and other specifications are awaited.
