Among Volvo's hatchback "V40" models, the "V40 R-DESIGN" stands out, featuring the new-generation 2-liter inline 4-cylinder direct-injection turbo "T5" engine, boasting a maximum output of 245ps (180kW) and a peak torque of 350Nm. Its sporty exterior, with a silk metal frame front grille and diffuser, and its interior, with leather combination seats, make it the top-tier model.

This year, as Volvo marks its auspicious 88th anniversary, the "V40 R-DESIGN Carbon Edition" emerges as a special limited model based on the "V40 R-DESIGN," enhanced with carbon fiber to elevate its sportiness.

Special equipment includes carbon fiber material for the roof, door mirror covers, and scuff plates. Additionally, it features a roof spoiler, along with specially gloss-black finished window trim and a rear diffuser.

Beyond its looks, it is also equipped with sports suspension and special 19-inch alloy wheels finished in black. Inside, exclusive red seatbelts add a distinctive accent.

Volvo's renowned safety performance is also standard, with the "IntelliSafe Ten" suite of 10 advanced safety and driver-assistance features, including advanced automatic braking for cyclists and pedestrians.

This special edition, commemorating Volvo's 88th anniversary and limited to just 88 units, is available only in Ice White, creating a striking contrast with the carbon parts. The price is 4.6 million yen.
