Interior and Exterior Feature Modern Nordic Design
Based on the Cadillac SRX, the 9-4X is presented with a simple Scandinavian design that evokes the 9-5 and the previously announced concept car, the 9-4X BioPower Concept. Styling highlights include a wrap-around windshield, a distinctive "hockey stick" beltline, bi-xenon headlights, a dual exhaust system, and 18-inch alloy wheels (20-inch wheels are used on the "Aero" model).
The interior boasts a leather-trimmed cabin with power seats offering 8-way adjustability, wood trim (carbon fiber on the "Aero"), mesh-like air vents, and a push-button ignition on the center console. Further amenities include a Bose audio system, GPS navigation with an 8-inch touchscreen, tri-zone climate control, and a rear entertainment system.
The engine lineup includes a 3.0-liter V6 producing 195kW (265ps) for the base model, achieving 0-100km/h in 9.0 seconds. The high-performance "Aero" model is equipped with a 2.8-liter V6 turbo engine generating 221kW (300ps) and 400Nm (40.8kgm) of torque, with a claimed 0-100km/h acceleration of 8.3 seconds.
Both engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and power is delivered to all four wheels via Saab's XWD all-wheel-drive system. This system variably distributes torque between the front and rear axles, transmitting up to 50 percent of the torque to the rear wheels through an eLSD.
The vehicle is scheduled for release in the United States in May 2011, with pricing yet to be determined. Releases in Europe and other global markets are expected from August onwards.
