Production Decision Made at Board Meeting End of July
This demonstration run took place at a special event held before the opening of the "Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance," which was celebrating its 60th anniversary.
The 918 Spyder Concept is a hybrid supercar that combines a 3.4-liter V8 gasoline engine, also used in the RS Spyder racing car, with an electric motor.
Its total output exceeds 718 ps, achieving 0-100 km/h in 3.2 seconds and a top speed of 320 km/h, surpassing the Carrera GT's time at the Nürburgring.
Yet, with features like regenerative braking and E-Drive mode, it achieves an impressive European combined fuel economy of 33.3 km/l and CO2 emissions of 70g/km, a testament to its hybrid capabilities.
Porsche decided to put the "918 Spyder Concept" into production at a board meeting held at the end of July, and the world eagerly awaits its arrival.
BRAND HISTORY
Porsche is a globally acclaimed sports car brand from Germany, earning overwhelming support from skilled drivers worldwide. Its origins trace back to 1931, when Ferdinand Porsche, a prodigy who showed early engineering talent, established the "Porsche Design Office" in Stuttgart, Germany, after a tenure as technical director at Daimler. He then began undertaking various car development projects for different manufacturers. Among his most famous contributions is the "Volkswagen Beetle," which played a significant role in motorization as Germany's "people's car."
The first car to bear his name as a manufacturer was the "356," introduced in 1948. Since then, Porsche has released sports cars like the "911," "924," and "928," while also focusing intensely on motorsports. Their racing pedigree includes 16 victories at the grueling 24 Hours of Le Mans and three championship titles as an F1 engine supplier, showcasing a brilliant track record. It goes without saying that their engineering prowess and dedication to driving performance continue to resonate in their products today.
Currently, Porsche offers a lineup of highly popular models, including the "911," which, even after 45 years since its debut, remains a top-tier sports car; the open-top sports car "Boxster"; its coupe counterpart, the "Cayman"; the premium sports SUV "Cayenne"; and the five-door hatchback "Panamera."
