Euro 6 Compliant Engines Adopted in Minor Update

Peugeot has unveiled a minor update to its compact hatchback, the "208," at the ongoingGeneva Motor Show, marking its world premiere.

three years since its full model change in 2012This minor update, three years after its full model change in 2012, brings a refreshed face. The front grille is now seamlessly integrated with the body for a unified look. The headlights, incorporating LEDs, have a cleaner cut, and the fog lights embedded in the bumper are now framed in black. The design of the taillights, inspired by a lion's claws, and the wheels have also been revised. A vibrant new color, "Orange Power," has been added to the body color options.

In terms of safety, the "Active City Brake" system has been newly adopted. This system uses a sensor located at the top of the windshield to monitor the road ahead and automatically applies the brakes if a collision risk is detected at speeds below 30 km/h. A rearview camera is also now available on some models.

In the engine lineup, a new "PureTech 110 S&S" has been added. This 1.2-liter, three-cylinder gasoline engine features a turbocharger, producing a maximum output of 110 ps (S&S denotes the idle stop system). This engine can be paired with either a manual transmission or the newly adopted Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission "EAT6." Additionally, the top-grade "208 GTi" will continue to feature the 1.6-liter, four-cylinder "THP engine," along with the 1.0-liter and 1.2-liter naturally aspirated "PureTech engines."

For diesel engines, the 1.6-liter "BlueHDi" will be available in three output variations: 75, 100, and 120 ps.
All models, except for the entry-level 75 ps version, are equipped with the S&S idle stop system. Furthermore, all variants achieve low environmental impact with CO2 emissions of 95g/km or less.

With this minor update, all 208 models, both gasoline and diesel, now comply with the European "Euro 6" emissions standard.

Smartphone-Compatible Touchscreen

The interior retains the "i-Cockpit" concept, which features a smaller steering wheel and a raised instrument panel to minimize eye movement during driving, similar to a head-up display. Additionally, the "Mirror Screen" function allows smartphone displays to be mirrored and operated on the 7-inch touchscreen. The glass roof is now equipped with blue LED lighting.

A new "GT Line" trim level is available with this minor update. It includes GTi-exclusive features such as a sporty front grille, large 17-inch wheels, and black door mirror covers. The interior boasts sports seats, a sports steering wheel, and aluminum pedal units. This trim can be selected for the "1.2 PureTech 110 S&S," "1.6 BlueHDi 100," and "1.6 BlueHDi 120" models.
