The Volkswagen Sharan is an MPV with sliding doors and three rows of seats, capable of carrying up to seven passengers. This Sharan receives updates to its safety, environmental, and information equipment.
One of the highlights of this update is the adoption of the latest safety equipment. An automatic post-collision braking system to prevent secondary accidents is standard, and optional safety devices such as Front Assist with City Emergency Braking, Lane Assist to prevent lane departure, Adaptive Cruise Control, third-generation Park Assist, and Blind Spot Monitor to warn of approaching vehicles in blind spots can now be equipped.
Furthermore, the engines are also the latest generation of high-efficiency units, achieving up to 15 percent better fuel economy. Two types of gasoline engines, the "TSI" with direct injection turbocharger, are available: one with a maximum output of 115 kW (150 ps) and another with 162 kW (220 ps). Similarly, three models of the "TDI" diesel engine with direct injection turbocharger are offered, with maximum outputs of 85 kW (115 ps), 110 kW (150 ps), and 135 kW (184 ps).
Four models, excluding the 85 kW version of the diesel engine, are paired with a fuel-efficient 6-speed DSG (dual-clutch) transmission that disengages the engine and transmission when the accelerator is released, thanks to a coasting mode.
In addition, the infotainment system adopts the second-generation modular system, realizing advanced network communication. Notably, the new Sharan is the first Volkswagen model to feature "App Connect," which is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto.
Other updates include the interior, which utilizes new materials for the instrument panel, and the rear combination lights, whose character is clearly defined by LEDs from the rear.
The new Sharan will be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show, with reservations starting in April in Germany and deliveries expected around summer.
