Off-Road Capability Rivals SUVs
Volkswagen, which has been expanding its lineup at an astonishing pace in recent years, has developed the "Golf Alltrack" as the 12th variation announced within just 24 months of the "Golf 7" debut. It will have its world premiere at the ongoing Paris Salon.
The Golf Alltrack is a model that can be described as the Golf version of the "Passat Alltrack", which debuted in 2012. Furthermore, it can be considered a model that introduces the framework, pioneered by sister brand Audi with the "Allroad Quattro" produced and released in 1999 based on the second-generation Audi "A6 Avant," to Volkswagen.
Based on the "Golf Variant", the estate wagon version of the current Golf 7, it has achieved off-road capability that rivals SUVs by providing a maximum of 20mm higher ground clearance, an "Offroad" driving profile, and the "4MOTION" full-time 4WD system.
The "Offroad" driving profile of this model activates the Hill Descent Control function (which automatically applies braking on descents), modifies throttle characteristics, and allows the ABS to be switched to an off-road setup. It is also said to offer a high level of active safety while delivering excellent off-road performance.

Appealing Unique Positioning
Furthermore, considering the towing needs, which are an important factor for this type of vehicle in Europe, the 2.0 TDI 184ps version, currently the most powerful variant, is designed to withstand a maximum towing load of 2,000kg (braking on a 12 percent gradient).
The exterior features a dedicated design, similar to the Passat Alltrack, including wheel arch moldings, side sills that extend to protect the body, and bumpers.
The interior features a sporty off-road character, including a leather steering wheel and gearshift lever, custom seat covers with "Alltrack" emblems on the front seatbacks, "Dark Magnesium" finished center console, and ambient lighting on the door trims. It appeals with its unique positioning, both technically and visually.
