The "AMG C 63" sports model, developed by AMG based on the new C-Class that has undergone a full model change for the first time in seven years, was unveiled today.
Previous ModelAbandoning the 6.2-liter naturally aspirated engine mounted in the previous model, it now features a newly developed 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine. This new unit, known as the M177, is based on the M178 that powers the "Mercedes-AMG GT" which represents the pinnacle of Mercedes-Benz's new generation sports coupes, and shares many components with it.
Although the displacement is over 2 liters smaller than the previous generation, the AMG C 63 boasts a maximum output of 476 hp (350 kW) at 5,500-6,250 rpm, an increase of 18 hp, and a maximum torque of 650 Nm at 1,750-4,500 rpm, an increase of 50 Nm. The transmission is an AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed sports transmission. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 4.1 seconds for the standard model and 4.0 seconds for the S model. Despite this performance, fuel efficiency has improved by approximately 32% compared to the previous generation, achieving 8.2 liters/100 km (approximately 12.2 km/liter) according to the European fuel consumption standard NEDC.
While adhering to the C-Class design, the exterior has been transformed into a lower, wider, and sportier stance.
