Carrying MINI's Heritage into the Future

The MINI Vision is a concept model designed to elevate the premium compact car segment, described as a showcase brimming with creativity. Its design is said to blend the inheritance of MINI's heritage with aesthetic and technological advancements for the future, and is expected to foreshadow the next generation of MINI.

The exterior strongly inherits the traditional MINI image. Rounded shapes and circular or oval motifs, a hallmark of MINI's exterior, are evident throughout the MINI Vision. For instance, the headlights retain their basic shape, while the outer perimeter functions as daytime running lights.

The hexagonal radiator grille's design draws inspiration from the classic Mini.

The overall design, divided into three layers—roof, glass area, and body—is also a continuation of MINI's distinctive style. However, the band-like frame bordering the lower body extends upwards towards the A-pillar, enveloping the body, and chrome detailing is incorporated into the roof, showcasing experimental touches.

These design elements of the MINI Vision are not merely intended to refresh MINI's design but also to pursue aerodynamic efficiency.

For example, the design that channels air from in front of the front wheels and releases it through a slit located at the rear of the wheel housing, between the body and the step, is a feature recently adopted byBMW. Additionally, the shape of the mirrors, wheel rims, and the roof spoiler are all designed with aerodynamics in mind.

The interior is designed to uphold MINI's philosophy of maximizing comfort within a minimal space. To create a more spacious cabin, a space-saving floating center console is employed between the driver and passenger seats. Fabric straps, reminiscent of the Union Jack, the flag of MINI's homeland, are arranged on the inside of the doors. Beyond their aesthetic appeal, these straps offer high functionality as pockets for items like magazines and mobile phones.

Furthermore, the MINI Vision exhibits a playful spirit characteristic of concept cars, with features such as a central display that can switch between classic analog gauges and a 3D-look style, and customizable floor and trim appearances. However, some of the proposals from this MINI Vision are expected to be incorporated intothe next MINI, rumored to be arriving soon.
