Road Version Also Arrives
Porsche Japan will begin accepting pre-orders for the new "911 GT3," which will have its world premiere on the press day of the2013 Geneva Motor Showopening on March 5.
The engine, transmission, body, and chassis have been completely redesigned from the previous "GT3," enhancing performance. As a result, the maximum output is 475ps (350kW), the power-to-weight ratio is 3.0kg/ps, achieving 0-100km/h in 3.5 seconds and 0-200km/h in 12 seconds. The top speed reaches 315km/h, with the potential to lap the Nürburgring Nordschleife in under 7 minutes and 30 seconds.
The powertrain that unlocks such potential is, as mentioned, a 3.8-liter flat-six engine generating a maximum output of 350kW (475ps) at 8,250rpm. Based on the Carrera S engine, it features titanium connecting rods and forged pistons, and is tuned for high revs, reaching a maximum of 9,000rpm. This is paired with a 7-speed PDK specifically tuned for the GT3.
Furthermore, it is equipped with "rear-wheel steering" for the first time in a Porsche production car. This system steers the rear wheels in conjunction with the front wheels according to vehicle speed, enhancing maneuverability and stability.
Other features include an electronically controlled rear differential and dynamic engine mounts. The newly developed all-aluminum suspension, like the previous model, allows for adjustment of ride height, toe, and camber.
All models come with left-hand drive and are equipped exclusively with the 7-speed PDK transmission. The price is 18.59 million yen.
