A Super Sports Car with Four Doors

Since the debut of the first model in 1963, the Quattroporte has carved out a unique niche as Italy's premier sports saloon. After the fourth generation ceased production in 2000, it disappeared from Maserati's lineup for a time. However, upon the announcement of a new model at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show, its classic yet modern design by Pininfarina, coupled withFerrari F430a V8 engine sharing its base with the Ferrari F430, earned it the nickname "the four-doorFerrari" and garnered immense popularity.

Despite a minor refresh in 2008, strong global sales propelled it to become a long-running hit model, continuing from its launch year in 2004 to the present. Consequently, the sixth-generation Quattroporte is an indispensable model for the brand.

The exterior, said to reinterpret classic Maserati styling with modern design language, evokes the brand's two-door coupe, the GranTurismo. Compared to the elegant face of the previous generation, the new model presents a sportier and more massive expression. Fans who cherished that particular luster as the essence of Maserati might find this a somewhat subdued interpretation, but it's a matter of taste. The rear view also changes significantly, with the combination lamps shifting from a vertical to a horizontal orientation.

The interior, refined for greater simplicity, continues the tradition of Italian luxury, blending wood and leather. The body dimensions are said to be further expanded from the current model's 5,100mm length, promising even more rear legroom than before.

While detailed official announcements about the engine have yet to be made, it is expected to incorporate a system based on the Ferrari V8 engine, similar to the GranTurismo. The world premiere of the new Quattroporte is scheduled for the Detroit Auto Show, opening January 14, 2013.
