Scheduled for Production in the Near Future

Here in Europe, the GSlaunched in early summer, has seen Lexus's sales rebound in 2012, selling approximately four times its total for the previous year. At the Paris Salon, Lexus held the world premiere of the LF-CC concept car, hinting at a sporty entry model that will join the Lexus lineup in the future.

The styling of the two-door coupe, featuring the spindle grille at the front, is striking not only for its excellent proportions but also for the beauty of its boldly sculpted surfaces. The high-luminosity metallic bronze body color further accentuates this. The horizontal instrument panel, common to the latest Lexus models, along with the low driving position, evokes a sense of sportiness.

The powertrain is Lexus's signature hybrid system. A new system combining a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder direct-injection engine with two electric motors was showcased.

It is safe to assume that this LF-CC is a proposal for the next-generation IS, scheduled for debut early next year. While the IS will naturally be a four-door sedan, a press conference also announced the future introduction of a mid-size FR coupe, essentially a production version of this LF-CC.

If that happens, it should naturally be sold in Japan as well. We have high expectations.
