Performance on Par with V8, Fuel Economy of a Four-Cylinder

The drive system installed in the Cayenne S Hybrid is a parallel full hybrid system, shared with Volkswagen's "Touareg V6 TSI Hybrid."

The combined output of the engine and motor boasts 374 ps, with a maximum torque of 59.1 kgm. The internal combustion engine is a 3.0-liter direct-injection V6 supercharger found in the Audi A4, delivering a maximum output of 333 ps and a maximum torque of 44.9 kgm. The motor alone provides up to 52 ps and a maximum torque of 30.6 kgm.

This enables a remarkable 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.8 seconds. This figure matches that of the Tiptronic S version of the "Cayenne S" equipped with a 4.8-liter V8 engine, aligning with Porsche's statement of "V8-equivalent performance with four-cylinder fuel economy."

Scheduled for Release in 2010

Regarding the much-anticipated fuel economy, it achieves 11.1 km/ℓ in the European combined cycle. Environmental performance is significantly enhanced through the inclusion of an idling stop function and regenerative braking. Porsche states, "The vehicle can accelerate using only the motor up to 140 km/h, and in the EV mode adopted for the production model, it can travel up to 2 km solely on electric power."

The lightweight and compact hybrid module is installed between the engine and the 8-speed automatic transmission, while a 70kg nickel-metal hydride battery, measuring approximately 35 x 63 x 29 cm, is positioned beneath the luggage space. These thoughtful arrangements ensure that interior space is not compromised, a key characteristic of this new model.

The Cayenne S Hybrid is slated for release in 2010, and this new system will also be implemented in the hybrid version of the Porsche Panamera.

BRAND HISTORY
PORSCHE (Porsche) is a German sports car brand that commands overwhelming support from skilled drivers worldwide. Its origins trace back to 1931. Ferdinand Porsche, a prodigy who distinguished himself as an automotive engineer in his twenties, gained experience as technical director at Daimler before establishing his own "Porsche Design Office" in Stuttgart, Germany. From then on, he was entrusted with developing various vehicles for automobile manufacturers. Among his most famous works is the "Volkswagen Beetle," which significantly contributed to motorization as Germany's "people's car."

The first car to bear his name as an automobile manufacturer was the "356," introduced in 1948. Since then, Porsche has released sports cars such as the "911," "924," and "928," while also focusing on motorsport. For instance, they achieved 16 victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, arguably the world's most grueling race, and contributed to three series championships as an engine supplier in Formula 1, accumulating a brilliant racing record. It goes without saying that their technological prowess and dedication to driving performance continue to live on in their products today.

Currently, their lineup, including the "911" which continues to be highly regarded as a top-tier sports car even 45 years after its debut, the open-top sports car "Boxster," its coupe counterpart the "Cayman," and the premium sports SUV "Cayenne," all boast immense popularity.
