The New Pinnacle of the 911

The long-awaited 991 generation7th Generation Porsche "911"based "911 Turbo" and "911 Turbo S" will debut at this year's Frankfurt Motor Show.

According to the specifications announced simultaneously, both the Turbo and Turbo S models will feature a 3.8-liter flat-six twin-turbo engine. Maximum output will be 383kW (520ps) and 412kW (560ps) respectively, with power sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed PDK. Acceleration from 0-100km/h is 3.2 seconds and 3.1 seconds, respectively, when equipped with the Sport Chrono package. Top speed is 318km/h.

Meanwhile, fuel consumption is reported to be 9.7ℓ/100km, thanks in part to the adoption of the start-stop function.

The body dimensions, compared to the all-wheel-driveCarrera 4"Carrera 4", are slightly larger in length and width. The dimensions are 4,506mm in length, 1,880mm in width, and 1,296mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,450mm. Rear-wheel steering is employed; below 80km/h, the rear wheels turn up to 2.8 degrees in the opposite direction to the front tires, which Porsche claims achieves agile handling as if the wheelbase were shortened by 250mm. Conversely, above 80km/h, the rear wheels turn in the same direction as the front, providing stability as if the wheelbase were extended by 500mm.

The Turbo and Turbo S models reign as the pinnacle of the 911 as road cars. Launching in September, prices in Germany are €162,055 (approx. ¥20.73 million) for the Turbo and €195,256 (approx. ¥24.98 million) for the Turbo S. (In Japan, prices were announced as ¥20.30 million and ¥24.46 million, respectively).
