2012 Carrera S Models Nearly Sold Out

The new 911, codenamed 991, has finally made its official debut in Japan. Described by Porsche as "Intelligent Performance," this ambitious model boasts approximately 90 percent new components, aiming to achieve a high level of synergy between environmental performance and high performance.

The initial model variations include the Carrera and Carrera S, each available as a cabriolet. The Carrera is equipped with a 3.4-liter flat-6 engine, downsized from the previous 3.6-liter. It boasts a maximum output of 350 ps (257 kW), a 5 ps increase over the predecessor, while achieving CO2 emissions of 194 g/km, marking a new generation of power units and the first time Porsche has recorded emissions below 200 g/km.

The 3.8-liter unit for the Carrera S also generates 400 ps (294 kW), a 15 ps increase compared to the previous model, while maintaining CO2 emissions at 205 g/km, an excellent figure for a sports car in the 400 ps class.

Meanwhile, performance has also been refined. For instance, the 0-100 km/h acceleration is 4.3 seconds for the Carrera S with PDK and 4.6 seconds for the Carrera with PDK, both 0.1 to 0.2 seconds faster than the previous generation.

Incidentally, reservations for this 991-model Porsche 911 began in Japan on November 10th last year, and the 2012 delivery allocation for the Carrera S is reportedly already almost completely sold out due to its popularity.
