Three-Layer Soft Top Ensures Coupe-Like Comfort
The Audi A5 Cabriolet is a full four-seater convertible that combines the elegant and emotional design and sporty driving of the popular Audi A5 Coupe with an electrically operated soft top, allowing for casual and comfortable open-air enjoyment.
While convertibles with variable roofs made of steel and aluminum panels are now mainstream, this model's deliberate adherence to a conventional soft top allows for a classic and elegant exterior design.
The soft top features a three-layer structure. The canvas material, with its excellent weather resistance and insulation, ensures high airtightness and sound insulation along with a lightweight, robust frame. When closed, it offers comfort comparable to the A5 Coupe. Furthermore, the compact storage of the soft top provides a trunk capacity of 380 liters when closed and a class-leading 320 liters when open.
Engine Offered Exclusively as a 3.2-Liter V6 FSI
The body, measuring 4625mm in length, 1855mm in width, and 1385mm in height, has been fundamentally redesigned for open-top use, achieving both light weight and high rigidity. It also boasts high safety, with rollover bars located behind the rear seats that deploy within 0.25 seconds if a potential rollover is detected, securing a survival space between them and the high-strength A-pillars.
The engine is exclusively the 3.2-liter V6 FSI. It produces a maximum output of 195 kW (265 ps) at 6500 rpm and a maximum torque of 330 Nm (33.7 kgm) at 3000-5000 rpm, driving all four wheels through Audi's signature quattro system. This system normally distributes 60% of torque to the rear and 40% to the front, but if any wheel slips, it can continuously distribute up to 80% of the torque to the rear and up to 60% to the front. The transmission is the "7-speed S tronic," a dual-clutch transmission renowned for its fast shifting speeds and high power transmission efficiency.
It is available only in right-hand drive and is priced at 7.84 million yen.

BRAND HISTORY
The Audi emblem is the "Four Rings." As you may know, each ring represents one of the automotive manufacturers: Audi, DKW, Horch, and Wanderer. All were based in Saxony and were leading brands in the German automotive industry at the beginning of the 20th century. However, the four companies, hit by the global depression after World War I, formed Auto Union in 1932 to survive. DKW specialized in motorcycles and small cars, Wanderer in mid-size cars, Audi in premium mid-size cars, and Horch in luxury cars.
However, due to Germany's defeat in World War II, Saxony in East Germany fell under Russian occupation, and Auto Union ceased to exist. Anticipating this, the new Auto Union was established in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, in West Germany. Unlike BMW and Mercedes-Benz, Auto Union faced a difficult start without existing factories, but gradually gained strength through the production of vehicles like the DKW delivery van.
Auto Union, acquired by Volkswagen at the end of 1964, soon introduced new models bearing the Audi name. In 1969, it merged with NSU (known for its development of the Wankel engine), based in Neckarsulm, becoming Audi NSU Auto Union. From 1985 onwards, it has continued as Audi to the present day. Technologies such as quattro, dynamic performance backed by motorsport activities, elegant design, and high-quality finishes are driving Audi's popularity.
