New Flat-6 Engine and PDK Are the Biggest News

The most significant feature of the new generation models is the newly developed Flat-6 engine. This engine, which surpasses the previous generation in both performance and fuel efficiency, offers a maximum output of 188 kW (255 PS) for the 2.9-liter basic version in the Boxster, an increase of 10 PS over the previous model, and 195 kW (265 PS) for the Cayman, an increase of 20 PS. The 3.4-liter engine in the S models achieves a maximum output of 228 kW (310 PS) for the Boxster S and 235 kW (320 PS) for the Cayman S, thanks to the adoption of direct fuel injection. These represent increases of 15 PS and 25 PS, respectively, over the previous models (power-to-weight ratios are 4.2 kg/ps for the Cayman S and 5.2 kg/ps for the Boxster S).

This engine performance, combined with the newly developed dual-clutch transmission, Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK), which incorporates technology fed back from racing cars, delivers a superior driving experience.
When equipped with the optional Sport Chrono Package and using the launch control function, the Cayman S with PDK achieves 0-100 km/h acceleration in 4.9 seconds. Even the Boxster with a 6-speed manual transmission records 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.9 seconds.

Redesigned Front and Rear Sections

Another significant change is the clear distinction between the Cayman and Boxster, achieved through newly designed front and rear sections. The front features unique air intake designs for each model, while the rear sports a panel with a diffuser insert for the Boxster and a wind deflector plate for the Cayman. Fog lights are now standard, with a rectangular design for the Boxster and a round design for the Cayman.

Further enhancements include the latest generation Porsche Stability Management (PSM) system with new brake pre-fill and brake assist functions, refined suspension settings, improved valve control maps for the steering system, and newly designed wheels. The new Boxster and Cayman models, which have undergone these various changes, are now available for order at Porsche's authorized dealerships nationwide starting December 6th.

BRAND HISTORY
Porsche stands as Germany's preeminent sports car brand, earning overwhelming support from skilled drivers worldwide. Its origins trace back to 1931 when Ferdinand Porsche, a brilliant engineer who distinguished himself from his twenties, established the "Porsche Design Office" in Stuttgart, Germany, after a tenure as technical director at Daimler. He subsequently undertook the development of various automobiles for different manufacturers. Among his most famous creations is the "Volkswagen Beetle," which significantly contributed to motorization as Germany's "people's car."

The first car to bear his name as a manufacturer was the "356," introduced in 1948. Since then, Porsche has introduced sports cars like the "911," "924," and "928," while also focusing on motorsport. Notably, the company achieved 16 victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, arguably the world's most grueling race, and contributed to three Formula 1 series championships as an engine supplier, marking a brilliant racing legacy. It goes without saying that their engineering prowess and dedication to driving performance continue to live on in their products today.

Currently, the lineup, all highly popular, includes the "911," which has maintained its reputation as a top-tier sports car for 45 years since its debut, the open-top sports car "Boxster," its coupe counterpart the "Cayman," and the premium sports SUV "Cayenne."
