The Pinnacle of the 997
Released by Porsche as a limited edition of 600 units worldwide, with sales commencing in July, the 911GT3 RS 4.0 stands as the most potent naturally aspirated 911. Its 4.0-liter flat-six engine produces a maximum output of 368kW (500ps) at 8250rpm and peak torque of 460Nm (46.9kgm) at 5750rpm. Through extensive weight reduction, including the use of a carbon fiber hood, the car achieves a curb weight of 1,360kg, enabling a 0-100km/h acceleration in 3.9 seconds, 0-200km/h in under 12 seconds, and a Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time of 7 minutes and 27 seconds. The local price starts from 178,596 Euros (approximately 20.19 million Yen).
Regarding the 911GT3 RS 4.0, likely the final model of the 997 generation, "AUTOCAR" offered a candid assessment: it is an excellent car.
The engine's performance, registering 3000rpm at 60 mph (approx. 96 km/h) and 6000rpm at 110 mph (approx. 177 km/h) in third gear, elicited an "Absolutely astounding!" reaction. Furthermore, it was noted to be surprisingly easy to handle, with particular praise for the steering.
In terms of driving dynamics, performance on dry surfaces was impeccable, though a slightly greasy feel was detected in certain sections. The downforce, reaching 190kg at top speed, is evenly distributed between the front and rear, contributing to excellent balance.
Finally, posing the question, "Is the RS 4.0 the pinnacle of the current 911 generation?" the article concluded with an emphatic, "Absolutely! Without a doubt!"
