Over 30% Reduction in CO2 Emissions Achieved, Significant Environmental Advancements

Environmental performance has also been considered. The new engine achieves approximately 10% higher maximum output and 30% higher peak torque than the previous generation, while simultaneously reducing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by over 30% through features like the auto start/stop function.

The transmission is the 7-speed double-clutch "M Drivelogic System," developed exclusively for the M5. It enables smooth gear changes in both automatic drive modes and sequential manual modes. Furthermore, it includes a new "Low Speed Assistant" function that proves effective in traffic jams with frequent starting and stopping. A single light press of the accelerator allows for forward movement at the minimum speed, enhancing comfort.

The new M5 comes standard with electronically controlled dampers. Drivers can select from "Comfort Mode," where the dampers adapt to driving conditions and style, "Sport Mode," with firmer damper settings, and "Sport Plus Mode," for even stiffer damping. Additionally, the "M Drive" system allows for even more dynamic driving, incorporating the latest technology.
