An Omnibus Course for Those Serious About Learning About Scent, Launching This Spring
Waseda University Extension Center is hosting an omnibus course titled "The Culture of Creating, Communicating, and Enjoying Scent," featuring instructors active in the world of fragrance. Open to anyone eager to learn about scent, the course comprises six lectures. The first session will commence on Saturday, May 9th.

As its name "Extension" suggests, the Waseda University Extension Center serves to broadly open Waseda University's research and educational functions to society. For this course, Ms. Mai Yoshino, a translator with profound knowledge of perfume history and markets, will serve as coordinator and navigator. The program will invite entrepreneurs and specialists who are boldly working to change the world through the power of scent, exploring its allure from diverse perspectives.
How have the various scents in our lives, the incense mentioned in classical literature, and the perfumes used as significant motifs in films, been "created," "communicated" to us, and "enjoyed" through the changing eras? Participants can learn about the history and roles of scent, as well as its relationship with society, by delving into little-known production processes and anecdotes.
