Discover Shu Uemura's Latest Designer Boutique

The concept for the "Shu Uemura Beauty Boutique," which opened in 1983 as an "open artist's atelier," was based on the "Makeup Atelier" established by Shu Uemura founder Shu Uemura himself in his home as a makeup lesson space for young artists and a salon for exchanging beauty information.

The interior of the Omotesando Hills Main Store, which reopened on February 27th, has evolved to a design that balances Japanese innovation and tradition, befitting a brand born in Japan, with materials that tell a story.

In collaboration with Hakuichi, a long-established Kanazawa foil craftsman, new signature materials such as lacquer and raden (mother-of-pearl powder) have been incorporated between the concept walls. The expression created by traditional techniques and modern materials, with a deep white base of raw lacquer and faint patterns brushed with pearl material, is fitting for Shu Uemura, a pioneer of makeup trends.

Furthermore, the space is structured to express Shu Uemura's concept through black modular walls. Neon ceiling finishes for pop and modern TOKYO expressions, a giant key bear, and a newly designed welcome table create a novel and comfortable space.

On the left window facing the boutique, the digital clock "shu CLOCK" displays iconic Shu Uemura products and makeup videos, marking the time. "shu SLOT," operated by smartphone, offers a prize (no losers) if you match the patterns. The first round runs until March 20th (Friday), from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on weekdays and 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM on weekends and holidays.

Additionally, at the newly renovated main store, you can now take home a video highlight (up to 10 minutes) of the popular "Learning Atelier," where you can learn personalized makeup techniques one-on-one, allowing you to review the day's techniques at home.
