ORGANIC by John Patrick × AVEDA: The "Brigitte Bardot-esque Pompadour"
The style created by Odile Gilbert, lead hairstylist for AVEDA at the "ORGANIC by John Patrick" Fall/Winter 2010 collection, is a modern take on Brigitte Bardot's signature pompadour. This third installment introduces the "ORGANIC by John Patrick" Fall/Winter 2010 collection, which took place on February 11, 2010.

Effortless Styling with Control Force Hair Spray
John Patrick, designer of "ORGANIC by John Patrick," described the hair for the Fall/Winter 2010 collection: "For our collection this season, the focus is on large, gorgeous hairstyles that beautifully complement hand-woven tweed. The look is modern, inspired by Joni Mitchell, Princess Diana, and Brigitte Bardot. We aimed for a youthful, playful vibe rather than a polished, overly constructed feel."

—Odile Gilbert, lead hairstylist, what was your inspiration for this look, and how did you collaborate with the designer on the styling?
John Patrick and I were inspired by teenage girls seeing Bardot's glamorous hairstyles on TV or in magazines and trying to recreate them themselves. It has a very dynamic, cute, and modern feel. The messy pompadour is secured with Control Force Hair Spray and a French twist at the back. The key features are the dramatic volume and the unfinished look.
—How can I style this myself?
This style is particularly suited for evening outings. Backcomb your hair with Control Force Hair Spray and place a hair sponge at the crown. Twist the hair on the left side, pulling it over to the right to cover the sponge. Pull the hair at the crown forward to gather it, and secure with pins. Bring a section of hair forward, let it fall to the side, and pin it. Finish with a spray of Control Force Hair Spray.

Sustainability and Ethics: Core Tenets for "ORGANIC"
—John Patrick, designer, what was your inspiration for this look, and what message were you hoping to convey?
For this season's collection, I drew inspiration from Joni Mitchell and Princess Diana, blending their influences. We placed a particular emphasis on hand-made tweed from Scotland.
—You made a significant effort to make this season's show "green." How do you feel about achieving this?
For us at "ORGANIC," sustainability and ethics are not trends; they have been the most important principles the brand has upheld since its inception. They are an integral part of our corporate DNA, and we take them very seriously. This season, we are delighted to participate in AVEDA's Catwalks for Water. AVEDA is a wonderful brand that is fully committed to environmental issues, and we are proud to partner with them.

AVEDA STYLE: The Brigitte Bardot-esque Pompadour <How to Create the Look>

1. Thoroughly brush all hair and apply AVEDA's Foaming Lotion Styling Foam for body and shine. Create a side part on the left using a comb.
2. Divide the hair into four sections: sides, top, and back. Let the top section fall forward over the face, then fold it back and secure with a hair clip against the head.
3. Backcomb the hair in the rear section to create a messy, voluminous effect. Spray evenly with Control Force Hair Spray for a strong hold.
4. Secure the rear section to the head. Insert a horizontal pin into the middle of the backcombed hair from step 3, securing it just below the crown.
5. Using a large pin, attach a professional sponge above the pin inserted in step 4.

6. Fold the right half of the ends from step 4 over the sponge to the left and secure to the sponge with a large pin. Similarly, fold the left half of the ends over the sponge to the right. Gather the ends from both sides at the back, twist them to the left to create a French twist, and secure at the nape with hairpins, letting the remaining ends fall over the shoulder.
7. Gather the hair at the top, leaving just a section to fall in front of the left ear, and sweep it over the sponge. Insert a pin into the French twist to secure it and create the pompadour. Gently pull with your fingers to create an effortless volume. Spray with Control Force Hair Spray.
8. Leave a few stray hairs to fall in front of the left ear, and loosely pin the remaining hair above the right ear. Finish with a spray of Control Force Hair Spray.
Next time,we will introduce the "Sophie Théallet Fall/Winter 2010 Collection."
