Focused Approach to Acne Care and Skincare for Adult "Sudden Breakouts"
Kiehl's DS line (DERMATOLOGIST SOLUTIONS) is a special treatment developed with the cooperation of dermatology experts from Harvard Medical School, based on knowledge of herbs and science. It addresses various skin concerns such as age and environmental changes, and rather than following trends, it leverages its apothecary roots to pursue product development focused on efficacy and safety.
Acne occurs when pores become clogged with dead skin cells, leading to a buildup of sebum and the proliferation of acne-causing bacteria. Generally, adolescent acne tends to appear on the T-zone, primarily the forehead and nose, due to increased sebum production. In contrast, acne that appears after adolescence is more likely to occur on the U-zone, particularly the jawline, due to factors like stress, lack of sleep, and dryness. Its complex causes make it prone to becoming "sudden breakouts."
The skin around these adult "sudden breakouts" experiences disrupted turnover and weakened barrier function. Therefore, not only acne care to suppress the activity of acne-causing bacteria but also skincare that prevents roughness and supports the skin's barrier function is required.

For this reason, Kiehl's focused on sulfur and salicylic acid, which inhibit the activity of acne-causing bacteria, as well as Vitamin B3 (nicotinamide), a skincare ingredient that prevents roughness and supports barrier function. "Kiehl's DS Acne Spot Treatment," formulated with these active ingredients, prevents the occurrence and worsening of "sudden breakouts," leading to smooth, even-toned skin. This is the first acne care product Kiehl's has sold in Japan.
The application is very simple. After cleansing and toning your skin with lotion, gently pat a suitable amount onto the concerned area. Stubborn adult acne can be difficult to heal once it appears. This is an item worth trying for those who feel their skin's barrier function has weakened.
