Peter Philips' Latest Short Film, "MIROIR MIROIR"
By covering the model Inguna Butane's entire face with crystal and mirror fragments, "it creates a hypnotic effect. The only change in color is the lips," said Peter Philips, Chanel's Global Creative Director for Makeup. Following "Here comes the Beauty Pack" and "Shade Parade," the short film "MIROIR MIROIR" has been released.

Sparkling Brilliance: A Mesmerizing World of Enchantment
──You often use masks as a motif. Why did you choose to incorporate mirrors this time? Is there a hidden message?
There is no hidden message in this makeup. It was primarily inspired by a magazine shoot I did several years ago, where I created a composition of crystal and mirror fragments on the model's face. While the resulting photographs were stunning, I regretted that the makeup couldn't be captured in motion. The sparkling brilliance and magical effect were lost in a still image.
When it came time to shoot a short film about lipstick, the idea of Paris-Bombay first came to mind, and I planned to recreate the mirrored face again. The color concept of the lipstick, along with the magical and psychedelic expression, perfectly matched the Indian theme.
"It took four hours to apply the crystals and mirrors."
──How was this mask created?
This mirrored look isn't actually a mask. I applied small pieces of crystal and mirror individually onto the face. Centered on a mirror placed on the forehead like a third eye, the composition unfolded like a peacock's tail feathers. The entire face is covered in crystal and mirror fragments, creating a hypnotic effect. The only change in color is the lips. It took four hours to apply the crystals and mirrors.
──What makeup products were used in this film shoot?
The eye area is kept very simple. I just curled the lashes and applied Ivory from Ombre Essentielle and Clair from Le Crayon Khôl. For the lips, I used new shades of Rouge Allure: the five colors—Pampant, Excentrique, Enjôlée, Exaltée, and Palpitante.
──Do you have any memorable episodes from the shoot?
The most radiant presence during this shoot was the model, Inguna. She was truly magnificent. Her beauty and patience inspired the entire film crew to do their best work.
