François Nars Presents the Powerful First Wave of the 2016 Autumn Collection

For Autumn/Winter 2016, NARS is releasing a color collection inspired by the "sound, style, and atmosphere of 70s counter-culture" over three consecutive months starting in August. The first installment of the NARS FALL 2016 COLOR COLLECTION, "POWERFALL.", featuring four items and 16 variations, will be available from Friday, August 5th.

"POWERFALL." is a coined term expressing the allure of "power" in the 2016 autumn color collection. This new lineup of shades and products includes four items in total: "Contour Blush," "Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow," "Velvet Matte Lip Pencil," and "Velvet Eyeliner," with 16 variations available. Deep, autumnal shades, signature colors, and an artistic texture allow you to express your stylish individuality without imitation, enhancing your allure. Notably, the new "Velvet Eyeliner" accentuates the eyes with depth and dimension, serving as an excellent base for precise eyeliner or smoky looks.

François Nars, NARS Founder and Creative Director, shares his thoughts on the powerful first installment of the 2016 Autumn Collection, "POWERFALL.":

It was actress Pam Grier from 70s films like 'Coffy' and 'Foxy Brown.' She played strong, assertive characters, so her look was tough, but never harsh. The makeup was intentionally natural, without being overly applied. This campaign draws inspiration from that character, emphasizing bone structure with blush and using natural colors.

—Why did you choose Aya Jones as the campaign model?

The moment I first saw Aya, I thought, 'Wow, she's incredible.' I immediately knew I wanted her for the campaign. She's not only beautiful, but she embodies the international spirit of someone born in one country, raised in another, and working all over the world. I love that multicultural, adventurous sensibility and the idea of being a global citizen.

—What are your favorite products and colors from this collection?

I particularly love the "Contour Blush." It adds dimension to the face while looking incredibly natural. The "Velvet Eyeliner" also has a wonderful intensity. It glides on beautifully and smoothly, making it easy to blend. I always use eyeliner as a base for powder eyeshadow, and this new product is perfect for that. And, of course, I always love a red lip, so the limited-edition "Velvet Matte Lip Pencil 2479 (Infatuated Red)" is a favorite.
