The Theme: "Touch" – A Difficult Concept to Express

The “LINK OF LIFE: The Great Laboratory of Beauty – Touching and Feeling” exhibition showcases over 20 works, including installations, videos, and interactive pieces, all centered around the theme of "touch" – a common act yet challenging to articulate.

The exhibited works were created through collaborations between Shiseido researchers and employees, and over 30 external partners including educational institutions and companies, under the supervision of Creative Director Dai Fujiwara (Dai Fujiwara Design Studio). This initiative aims to foster encounters between Shiseido researchers and diverse external professionals, pursuing the creation of new value and exploring the future of beauty.

Top Left: "Gum Tea Ceremony"
This piece proposes a new and unexpected way to enjoy gum by engaging in a series of actions akin to a tea ceremony: carefully handling gum in delicate paper wrappers, observing its shape and color, smelling its aroma, and finally, chewing it. A collaborative work by Shiseido Research Center, Asano Design Laboratory, and V. MANE FILS.

Top Right: "Powder World"
An installation that allows visitors to experience the fascinating behavior of "hollow powder," an incredibly lightweight material used in foundation, as if in zero gravity. A collaborative work by Shiseido Research Center, Shiseido PICK UP TECHNOLOGY Production Team, and BBmedia Inc.
