A Boutique Designed for Experiencing Color

For 17 years, since founding his eponymous brand, François Nars had dreamed of a "boutique." He searched for the perfect location for years, and finally discovered it in the West Village.

The historic building at 413 Bleecker Street, characterized by its preserved pre-war atmosphere, is the "NARS Boutique." Inspired by vintage Parisian and New York residences, it was designed in collaboration with Fabien Baron of the renowned creative agency Baron & Baron. Modern, artistic elements are captivatingly fused with NARS' signature personal space.

The interior, where music specially created for NARS by French DJ Les Gembes plays, is clean and sharp. With accordion-like Louis XVI-style elements, hardwood floors with an antique finish, and a fireplace, it exudes a warm, captivating, and quintessentially French atmosphere. The black and white color scheme reflects the brand's packaging, designed by Baron, a longtime friend of Nars. The iconic red of "Jungle Red Lipstick," one of Nars' first 12 lipstick creations, is used as an accent.

The horizontal counter displays all product lines in a modern fashion. Vintage accents are complemented by modern elements, including floor-to-ceiling mirrors with hidden illuminated frames and three screens that sequentially show short films produced by NARS.

At the "NARS Boutique," exclusive items are available, including the "413 Bleecker Pure Matte Lipstick," a slim lipstick in a warm rose-brown shade, and a boutique-exclusive version of "BENTO BOX," a special edition of the "Artistic Makeup Box" released in December 2010, featuring three compartments for freely combining NARS products.

Shelves above the fireplace display various objects collected by François, and the boutique, staffed by NARS artists personally trained by him, makes you feel as if you're visiting François' home.
