Did you know? The volume of pores increases with age. Furthermore, as we age, our skin's turnover cycle becomes irregular, making pore impurities an issue we can no longer ignore. Since regular cleansing doesn't quite remove them (and I don't wash my face very often), special care is necessary. This 'Vacuum Cleaner' is a peeling mask that you simply apply in a thin layer to cleansed skin, rinse off when the surface turns white, and it reduces blackheads, leaving your skin smooth.

It's called a peeling mask because it contains two exfoliating ingredients, AHA and BHA, which work on specific targets. First, AHA. Natural glycolic acid, extracted from sugarcane, is water-soluble and works on the stratum corneum around pores, which has a high moisture content. Then there's BHA. Salicylic acid, extracted from willow bark, is oil-soluble and works on oily areas like sebum and oxidized blackheads that clog pores. In other words, by attacking from both sides with ingredients of different properties, blackheads and keratin plugs can be effectively removed. Additionally, the fruit of the wild rose and Agrimonia pilosa extract, also used in Kampo medicine, work to tighten pores and suppress sebum secretion, preventing shine.

When you take it in your hand, it's a clear gel that turns white as you spread it thinly on your skin and it dries. The instructions say 'light blue,' but it looks white no matter how you look at it! It feels pleasantly cool on the skin, but as it dries and turns white, it's a bit startling. This is because the white mask makes the black dots of pores on your nose and cheeks stand out starkly. It's perfect for a sudden realization like, 'Wow, my pores are this open!' (laughs).

It's best to leave it on for about 5 to 10 minutes after applying, but since it dries in about 3 minutes, I can't wait and rinse it off at this point (though perhaps leaving it on for the full duration might be better for removing dirt from deep within the pores). And after rinsing, my skin feels smooth and silky! I guess I'm just a sucker for that dramatic smooth feeling after rinsing... But then again, the results are so obvious, aren't they! I ask myself.

Anyway, regardless, it's also the season when pores are noticeable, and I believe it's crucial to address pore concerns with skincare before attempting to cover them with makeup.
