<strong>Noriko Hayashi</strong><br />Born in 1983. While attending university, she began taking photographs for The Point, a local newspaper in Gambia, West Africa. She covers the stories of people whose lives do not make the news, both domestically and internationally. For the September 2012 issue of National Geographic Japan, she published "The Lost Roma Towns," and for the July 2013 issue, "Kyrgyzstan: The Reality of Bride Kidnapping." Her photographs of bride kidnapping in Kyrgyzstan garnered significant global attention, winning the highest award in the feature section at the French photojournalism festival and first place in the contemporary issues stories category of the National Press Photographers Association's Best of Photojournalism awards. Her work has also been published in numerous media outlets, including The Washington Post, Der Spiegel, Le Monde, and Newsweek. The "Bride Kidnapping in Kyrgyzstan" series received the "Visa d'Or (Golden Visa)" for the feature section at the "Visa pour l'Image" festival in 2013, and first place in the contemporary issues stories category at the National Press Photographers Association's Best of Photojournalism awards in 2014.
