Getz/Gilberto (VERVE)<br />Recorded in 1963 (released in 1964) by American jazz saxophonist Stan Getz with Brazilian bossa nova artists João Gilberto and Antônio Carlos Jobim. It became a major hit, reaching number 2 on the Billboard album chart, and the single "The Girl from Ipanema," featuring João's then-wife Astrud Gilberto's vocals, sold 2 million copies. It sparked a worldwide bossa nova craze. In the same year, the album won four Grammy Awards, including the two major categories (Album of the Year and Record of the Year).
