Keiko Toda | What can I do now?── Great East Japan Earthquake
Keiko Toda | At the shelters, I shook hands with everyone, took photos, and signed autographs. For the children, we held screenings of 'Anpanman' and 'Thomas the Tank Engine'.
Keiko Toda | Even though I voice Anpanman, there are many hurdles to overcome for Anpanman himself to appear, which is a bit frustrating...
Keiko Toda | The children at every venue had sparkling eyes and laughed out loud.
Keiko Toda | I have visited the disaster-stricken areas twice so far. On April 16th, I drove about 6 hours to Watari District, Miyagi Prefecture. I toured the affected areas and visited four evacuation shelters.
Keiko Toda | I gave the children Anpanman plush toys and postcards as gifts.
Keiko Toda | I am still working hard to be able to deliver Anpanman character shows in the future.
Keiko Toda | There was a volunteer team collecting photos from the rubble, washing them, and arranging them.
Keiko Toda | When everything is washed away, a single remaining photograph truly becomes a 'treasure'.
Keiko Toda | A tremendous amount of photos. It's a difficult task...
Keiko Toda | We screened 'Thomas the Tank Engine' at a small kindergarten in Kamaishi. The children cheered, 'Go, Thomas!' When they said 'Thank you' to me, I couldn't help but shed tears.
Keiko Toda | The world's smallest cinema. It was very impressive how the children sat so well-behaved and watched.
Keiko Toda | For three days during Golden Week, I wore T-shirts with 'Tohoku Damashii' (Tohoku Spirit) purchased from the Sandwich Man duo and performed live dubbing in three locations.
Keiko Toda | I was truly happy that the children at every venue were doing well. However, I heard that some children still couldn't smile, and some cried at night. How terrifying it must have been. It's truly immeasurable.
Keiko Toda | I will not forget the words of Mr. Takashi Yanase and will continue to do what I can.
