Kiyomizu-dera Temple, nestled on the slopes of Mount Otowa, boasts 15 temple buildings, including national treasures and important cultural properties, spread across its 130,000-square-meter grounds. The sight of illuminated structures like the Niomon Gate, West Gate, and the three-storied pagoda emerging against the rainy night sky is truly magical.

In the Gakusha and Amida-do halls of the main building, a string quartet performance by the Kyoto Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra entertained the attendees.
A special viewing of the inner sanctum, a non-public area at the very back of the main hall, was a highlight of the event.

Finally, a serving of amazake at the tea house warmed our bellies, bringing the visit to a close.
The stage of the national treasure, the main hall, is covered by a temporary roof for restoration work, so its original form cannot be seen. Visitors enter the main hall through the Toromon Gate, passing through a corridor lit by lanterns.
