The ultimate quartz has arrived. Towards a new future for quartz | LONGINES Gallery

The presentation and exhibition venue was the former Neuchâtel Observatory, situated on a hill overlooking the town and lake. It now houses the Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology (CSEM), a non-profit corporation established in 1984 by the watch industry, the University of Neuchâtel, the Swiss Confederation, and the Canton of Neuchâtel, serving as a bridge between basic research conducted by universities and public research institutions and the commercialization of new technologies. Longines' historical quartz models and new product presentations and exhibitions were held within the observatory's telescope dome and its adjacent facilities.

Longines' first quartz watch
The "Caliber 800" quartz movement, designed for high-precision marine chronometers. It surpassed all previous accuracy records set by mechanical watches at the Neuchâtel Observatory.
The "Ultra-Quartz Caliber 6512" and its production prototype, developed in secret internally by Longines under the codename "Hourglass Project." This was separate from the CEH (Centre Electronique Horloger) in Neuchâtel, a joint venture by various watch companies. Unfortunately, mass production did not commence within the year.
Longines' first digital watch, co-developed with Ébauches SA (now ETA) and Texas Instruments, a semiconductor manufacturer in Silicon Valley. Its innovative design received high acclaim.
The first model in the "Conquest V.H.P." collection, featuring an annual accuracy of ±10 seconds.
The "Conquest V.H.P. Perpetual Calendar," equipped with a perpetual calendar function. This name would later be shelved for a time amidst the mechanical watch boom.
A collection of the world's finest quartz watches, boasting an annual accuracy of ±5 seconds, inheriting the history and legend of the high-precision "Longines Conquest V.H.P." quartz watch that debuted in 1984. V.H.P. stands for "Very High Precision." Case diameter is 41mm. Stainless steel case and bracelet. 5 ATM water resistance. ¥121,000 (excluding tax). Scheduled for release this autumn.
