Longines Revives an Elegant Model from the 1940s

Longines has announced the "Longines Heritage Classic Chronograph 1946," a revival of a 1940s model. It will be available from February 2020.

An Elegant Watch with Unique Beauty

Founded in 1832 and based in Saint-Imier, Switzerland, Longines has consistently delivered exceptional timepieces under its motto of "Tradition, Elegance, and Performance." Within its rich history, the "Heritage" series, born from a unique aesthetic sensibility and modern watchmaking technology, stands as its most renowned collection. This new "Longines Heritage Classic Chronograph 1946," unveiled in 2020, is a faithful recreation of a model manufactured in the 1940s. It meticulously reproduces an elegant timepiece from that era, equipped with innovative technology, in a discreet 40mm case size.

Inside the case beats the exclusive L895.5 automatic movement, featuring a silicon balance spring. The silver-white opaline domed dial, adorned with two counters, displays dolphin-style Arabic numerals, which were prevalent at the time. The logo at 12 o'clock uses the original typeface, while a small seconds subdial is positioned at 3 o'clock and a 30-minute counter at 9 o'clock.

Blue steel leaf hands and sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating lend exquisite harmony to this piece. The accompanying semi-matte black leather strap further accentuates its vintage appeal.
