A New Modernity in Aviation Chronograph Tradition: The "Type XXI 3815"

Breguet is renowned for its profound influence on watchmaking and its iconic timepieces. The brand also has deep ties to aviation; Louis Charles Breguet, a fourth-generation descendant of founder Abraham-Louis Breguet, is celebrated as a pioneer of flight. The Maison Breguet itself gained renown through its remarkable "Type XX" collection of aviation chronographs. In 2021, Breguet adds the "Type XXI 3815," a sporty and modern chronograph, to this esteemed line.

Orange and Green Neon Colors Create a Contemporary Look

In contrast to the "Type XXI 3817," released in a vintage style in 2016, the 2021 Breguet novelty "Type XXI 3815" adopts a contemporary aesthetic. It features a 42mm titanium case, offering high durability and a lightweight feel on the wrist.

Elements such as 10-bar water resistance, a screw-down crown, and alternating polished and satin finishes further enhance its sporty character. The 60-minute scale in black lacquer on the bidirectional rotating bezel complements the titanium case, highlighting the model's contemporary appeal.

However, the differences extend beyond this. The new dial of the "Type XXI 3815" features a deep black with a sunburst finish, accented by vibrant green or orange hues that express modern individuality and sportiness. The numerals, indices, and hands are all luminescent, ensuring legibility even in low light.

This dial is configured with two subdials: a 24-hour indicator at 3 o'clock and a small seconds counter at 9 o'clock. The 60-minute chronograph counter, like the 60-second totalizer, is centrally located on the main dial.

The self-winding movement incorporates the flyback chronograph function, along with Breguet's latest technological advancements, such as an escapement and balance spring made of silicon. Through the sapphire crystal case back, one can admire the movement's intricate details, including a gold rotor with special finishing for this limited edition.

The calfskin leather strap features stitching that matches the color of the dial's indices and hands. It is paired with a new, comfortable, and secure triple-folding buckle. This "Type XXI 3815" is available in two variations: titanium with green accents or titanium with orange accents, each produced in a limited edition of 250 pieces.

With its distinctly contemporary and sporty look, this model marks a new chapter in the history of aviation chronographs.
