Seiko is releasing a limited edition of 2,500 mechanical models, inspired by the colors of the dawn sky over Mount Iwate, near the "Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi" where this timepiece is manufactured, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of Grand Seiko, Japan's leading watch brand.

Grand Seiko is a watch brand born in 1960 from the culmination of the era's finest technology and craftsmanship. Since its founding, it has pursued and achieved the essence of a wristwatch—accuracy, legibility, and beauty—at the highest level through relentless progress, celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2020.

To celebrate this anniversary year, the "Grand Seiko 60th Anniversary Limited Model Heritage Collection Mechanical Model" is being released in a limited quantity of 2,500 units.

This model features a dial in "Grand Seiko Blue," the brand's signature color, befitting this special year. Most notably, the titanium rotor, visible through the sapphire crystal case back, displays a vivid spectrum of colors.

The surface treatment creates an artificial oxide film on the titanium, and the light refraction generated by the film's thickness produces beautiful hues. Titanium also offers high elasticity and vibration absorption, providing practical benefits by reducing deformation from shocks and mitigating the impact transmitted to the movement and rotor bearings.

The inner periphery of the sapphire crystal case back features a red accent, inspired by the crimson clouds of dawn seen from Mount Iwate, which overlooks Mount Hachimantai in Iwate Prefecture, the region where this watch is manufactured.

This watch, limited to 2,500 units, is scheduled for release on Saturday, September 26, 2020.
