A Moon Phase with 100m Water Resistance
The moon has held a special place in the human imagination since ancient times. In Japan, the 'Mid-Autumn Moon' is a cherished custom, passed down through generations, for appreciating its beauty with family and loved ones. TUDOR introduces its first moon phase model to the refined 1926 collection, a fitting addition for this symbolic season.
The collection name, 1926, originates from the year the name "The TUDOR" was first registered by Rolex founder Hans Wilsdorf. This collection embodies TUDOR's ethos, positioned as a line that materializes the brand's essence, combining beauty with value.
The new 1926 LUNA features a 39mm stainless steel case and is available with three dial variations: blue, black, and champagne. At the 6 o'clock position on each dial, a moon phase indicator, framed by a polished chamfered edge, presents its own unique character.
The champagne gold model is particularly noteworthy. It employs a disc called "Phantom Moonlight Gold," which depicts the moon hidden behind a cutout of deep black. As the moon waxes and wanes, the disc gradually disappears, creating a dreamlike ambiance unique to the moon phase complication.
While it precisely tracks the 24-hour cycle in seconds, it simultaneously displays the vastly different lunar cycle. It not only tells time but allows you to feel the rhythm of the celestial bodies on your wrist.
While its aesthetic appeal is undeniable, this timepiece also boasts the robustness characteristic of TUDOR. The case is crafted from 316L steel, a highly resistant stainless steel, and the screw-down crown and case back ensure water resistance up to 100 meters.
The dial is one of the elements that highlights TUDOR's meticulous attention to detail. The domed dial form, evoking a vintage feel, is a delicate design that recalls the brand's origins. Even-numbered Arabic numerals are placed between faceted arrow-shaped hour markers.
The movement is the Swiss automatic mechanical caliber T607-9, certified chronometer quality, meticulously crafted not only for its timekeeping performance but also for its exquisite finishing.
Metal bracelets have held a significant place in TUDOR's design language since its inception. The 1926 collection is equipped with a bracelet engineered for comfort, sophistication, and quality.
Composed of seven rows of links of varying sizes, the bracelet is designed to flex and conform to the wrist's curve. The outer links feature a satin finish, while the central links are polished, creating an elegant impression through contrasting textures. It is a bracelet that offers both robustness and flexibility.
While adorned with the delicate beauty of a moon floating in the sky, its essence lies in unwavering robustness. The 1926 LUNA is a quintessential TUDOR piece, masterfully fusing the seemingly contradictory elements of elegance and toughness.
