The latest creation from a collaboration between Swiss luxury watchmaker Hublot and French menswear brand Berluti, the "Big Bang Unico Berluti Cold Brown," has been unveiled. This model fuses Berluti's renowned, legendary Venezia leather and its signature patina with Hublot's "Art of Fusion" concept, which blends diverse materials and ideas.

The collaboration between Hublot and Berluti began in 2016. In 2020, based on the "Big Bang Unico," the "Big Bang Unico Berluti Cold Brown" was born, designed by Berluti's Creative Director, Kris Van Assche. This timepiece is a new model that merges Berluti's celebrated, legendary Venezia leather and its patina—a dyeing technique involving various methods for coloring and bleaching leather while applying solvents, pigments, and dyes—with Hublot's "Art of Fusion" concept of blending diverse materials and ideas.

Leveraging the experience gained from previous collaborations with Berluti, Hublot has incorporated Berluti's iconic Venezia leather into the dial of the "Big Bang Unico." The leather is encased between two sapphire crystals, and in a first, it has been cut out to reveal the gears of the "Unico" movement.

While previous models featured Venezia leather only on the strap and dial, this new creation extends its use to the watch's bezel. This innovative approach was made possible by a novel concept: constructing the bezel from two parts. A leather component, approximately 1mm thick, is bonded and hardened with another part, a black ceramic base, before being screwed into the case for secure fixation. The strap, a fusion of Berluti's patina leather and rubber, complements the watch, which is powered by the iconic "Unico" manufacture movement, caliber MHUB1242, a chronograph with a flyback function.

The "Big Bang Unico Berluti Cold Brown" is a timepiece that masterfully unites the heritage of the menswear brand Berluti and the vision of its Creative Director, Kris Van Assche, with the material expertise of Manufacture Hublot. The box, signed by both brands, includes Berluti's signature shoehorn key ring and a travel case. It is offered as a limited edition of 100 pieces worldwide. In Japan, it will be available first at "Hublot Boutiques," with a nationwide rollout to authorized retailers planned from 2021.
