Knot has launched its first-ever mechanical models adorned with raden (mother-of-pearl inlay) on the dial, available at all gallery shops and online stores nationwide.

Maker's Watch Knot has introduced mechanical models featuring raden (mother-of-pearl inlay). Raden is a beautiful decorative technique where the iridescent inner layer of shells is thinly processed and scattered across a lacquered surface. It was brought from China during the Nara period, developed in the Heian period, and is a representative Japanese traditional craft passed down to the present day.

    Sumiiro

The lineup consists of two types: the limited edition "Nanairo" and the standard edition "Sumiiro."
"Nanairo" is a piece that allows you to visually enjoy the traditional colors and brilliance of raden. The raden, crafted from the mother-of-pearl of black pearls, exhibits a vibrant seven-colored shimmer of pinks and greens, creating a gorgeous and distinctive look on your wrist. This is a limited quantity model for 2023 only.
"Sumiiro" is an arrangement of traditional raden, designed to be less ostentatious and more suitable for everyday wear. Using freshwater shells with simple colors, an original technique of applying an extremely thin layer of lacquer suppresses the saturation, resulting in a chic color tone. This is a new frontier of raden, elevating tradition into modernity.

The "Traditional Craftsman" title is awarded only to artisans who possess advanced skills and techniques among those engaged in the manufacture of traditional crafts. This dial was realized through a collaboration with Shinichi Otake, a traditional craftsman whose work is characterized by high technical skill and original sensibility.

The limited edition "Nanairo" features a laser-engraved serial number. The unique layout of Maker's Watch Knot, which allows for customization by swapping straps and buckles, enhances the limited edition specifications.
