Maker's Watch Knot, also known as Japan's first custom-order watchmaker, has renewed its "AT-40S" Japanese-made mechanical watch with 20-bar water resistance. The "AT-40S," which is also suitable for formal styles, has been announced.

The "AT-40S," a Japanese-made mechanical sports model, was born in 2020. It took about two years to develop, and it gained attention for its sporty style and real price under 100,000 yen, while pursuing functions such as a 20-bar water-resistant case design required for water activities and luminous paint to ensure visibility in the dark.

This time, it has been renewed to the "AT-40S" with a design that is also suitable for formal styles. It has evolved into a luxury sports model.

The dial is finished with multiple layers of lacquer, polished to a deep hue for a more luxurious impression. The sporty bezel and sharp index design retain their sporty feel while also offering a dressy aesthetic. The dial is available in three colors: white, navy, and black.

The case features a "Zaratsu polishing" finish. "Zaratsu polishing" is a pre-treatment technique, originally derived from Swiss machining equipment, that creates beautiful, distortion-free doubly curved surfaces. It is a technique that requires skilled craftsmanship, and is now rarely seen outside of high-end Japanese-made machines, sometimes referred to as "phantom polishing."

The indices are coated with luminous paint that glows for approximately five hours in the dark, enhancing visibility. The 20-bar water resistance, which expands its usability, remains. The 40mm case, designed to fit comfortably on Japanese wrists, houses a Japanese-made high-beat movement, the MIYOTA "Cal.9015." The movement can be admired through the see-through case back.
