A Design Evoking a Mother and Daughter Strolling Monaco's Coastline

The 5th "Only Watch" charity auction, held at the Hôtel Hermitage in Monaco and patronized by H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco, will see its proceeds donated to the Monaco Association against Muscular Dystrophy to support research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy.

For its fourth consecutive participation in this auction, Van Cleef & Arpels has created a unique watch that embodies the Maison's philosophy and its deep affection for Monaco. The "Lady Arpels Jour & Nuit Monaco" (A Day in Monaco) watch, a tribute to the beauty of the Principality, is born from the fusion of exceptional watchmaking expertise and the Maison's vision of "Poetry of Time."

The watch, with its blue and white palette evoking the sky and sea of the French Riviera, features a captivating design that suggests a mother and daughter strolling along Monaco's coast. As the day progresses, silhouettes of the mother and daughter appear and disappear on the dial, framed by a diamond-set bezel that enhances this charming scene. The turquoise dial, a testament to exquisite craftsmanship, depicts Monaco's panoramic landscape, including the famous Prince's Palace perched on "The Rock," two palm trees, and the port of Fontvieille with boats in the distance.

Furthermore, the sea is rendered with scattered waves on the mother-of-pearl top dial and case back, while a rotating disc of lapis lazuli, reminiscent of the deep blue Mediterranean, is set at the center of the dial. This design pays homage to the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco, deeply involved in the research and conservation of marine species, and the special relationship between the Principality and the sea.
