A Beautiful Guilloché Dial That Rotates Like a Waltz to Tell Time

Founded in 1822 by Carl Suchy, a watchmaker to the Habsburg court, Carl Suchy & Söhne was born in Prague in 1796.

Carl Suchy and his sons also served as court watchmakers to the Austrian Emperor and Empress, and the brand was known as Austria's only luxury brand for 92 years until it became dormant in 1914.

It was revived in 2016, after more than a century.

Carrying on the brand's unique history and its cutting-edge, contemporary design, they completed the "WALTZ No.1 First Series," a limited edition of 22 pieces that embodies Viennese modernism with its minimalist elegance.

The signature of "WALTZ No.1," which pays homage to the world-renowned Viennese architect Adolf Loos, is the intricate guilloché pattern on the dial. This same decoration, similar to the vertical and horizontal pinstripes on the dial, is also applied to the "waltzing disc" at the 6 o'clock position, which rotates once per minute. Thus, the vertical and horizontal pinstripes align once every minute.

Furthermore, the automatic ultra-thin movement from Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier, equipped with a micro-rotor, can be admired through the sapphire crystal case back.

The second series, limited to 50 pieces, is now arriving in Japan for the first time. This includes 45 pieces based on black or white, and 5 "Blue Danube" pieces featuring the brand's first blue dial. "WALTZ No.1" embodies the graceful dance of a Viennese waltz and the Viennese café culture that cherishes the unhurried passage of time. Indulge in a minimalist sophistication distinct from Swiss styles.
