J12 Celebrates its 10th Anniversary
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Chanel's "J12," its first sports watch collection. To commemorate this milestone, 2010 saw the debut of new J12 models, including complication pieces developed in collaboration with APRP (Audemars Piguet Renaud & Papi) and the brand's first dive watch.

Since launching its first watch in 1987, Chanel has consistently created timepieces that embody the maison's unique world, offering captivating concepts, mechanisms, and stylistic details that rival those of dedicated watch manufacturers.
Among these, the "J12," Chanel's first sports watch collection introduced in 2000, stands out as one of its most successful and epoch-making creations.
The design of this model was conceived by Jacques Helleu, who served as Chanel's Artistic Director for decades. Imagining an "eternal sports watch," he pioneered the use of high-tech ceramic, a material offering a cool luster unlike traditional metals, not only for the case but also for the bracelet. Its clear, functional design, emphasizing the contrast of Chanel's signature black and white, was met with immediate acclaim and became a bestseller.
This year, the J12 celebrates its 10th anniversary. In commemoration, Chanel has released complication models—the first in five years—and its first true dive watch, featuring 300m water resistance, inspired by the symbols of the sea.
Both are exceptionally crafted, but the former, the "J12 Rétrograde Mystérieuse," is a true masterpiece of haute horlogerie, crystallizing the aesthetic and spirit of the Chanel maison with the technical prowess of Renaud & Papi, a leading Swiss workshop for complex timepieces.
With this model, the world of complicated watches has entered a new era.
