PARMIGIANI FLEURIER
A Manufacture Brand Founded by a Watchmaking Genius
Parmigiani Fleurier Returns to Japan
Parmigiani Fleurier made its return to Japan in autumn 2014 with the establishment of its Japanese subsidiary. The 2015 SIHH marked its first appearance since re-entering the Japanese market, and what left a strong impression was the enhancement of the classic "Tonda" collection. While the first model had a strong lean towards luxury sports, the brand has steadily expanded its variations, now offering classical styles and complications like annual calendars. This year, the lineup has been further strengthened. Particularly striking are the exquisite skeleton model and the meteorite dial, which offers a mysterious and romantic finish.

Tonda 1950 Skeleton
The Micro-Rotor Mechanism is Fully Visible
The skeletonization of a thin watch is a direct indicator of a watch brand's technical prowess. It requires etching the movement's plates and bridges and finishing them with the intention of showcasing both the front and back of the movement. In this regard, the new "Tonda 1950" is a masterful creation. The plates and bridges, visible through the sapphire crystal dial and case back, are finished with curved lines, and the operation of the micro-rotor, normally only visible from the case back, can even be seen through the dial. The plates and bridges are meticulously finished, and the rotor is beautifully executed. Furthermore, the strap is made of high-quality Hermès leather. This model accentuates its beauty, befitting its slim elegance.

Tonda 1950 Meteorite
Rare Meteorite Used for the Dial
The dial is the "face" of a watch, and using exotic materials can enrich its "expression." Meteorite, used in this watch, is one such exotic material for watch dials. When meteorites enter the Earth's atmosphere, the intense heat can create geometric patterns not found on Earth. Furthermore, each dial sliced from these meteorites will have a unique pattern. Consequently, a watch with a meteorite dial becomes a wristwatch with a dial that is unique in the universe. Though an elegant model with a mere 7.8mm thickness, it is a timepiece that encapsulates the beauty created by the cosmos.
