The Theme: "Post Punk," Fusing Diverse Elements

"JAM HOME MADE," which consistently proposes new unisex jewelry and accessories, will celebrate its 20th anniversary next year.

The theme for the Spring/Summer 2017 collection is "POST PUNK." Post-punk is a music genre that emerged after the "punk movement" popular in the late 1970s. While inheriting the spirit of punk, it fused diverse elements to define an era.

For this collection, JAM HOME MADE pays homage to "Unknown Pleasures," an iconic album by JOY DIVISION. They present playful items that fuse originality with new technology.

The "MACHINE MADE -POST ACCESSORY-" series, crafted using 3D printers, transforms the pulsar diagram from "Unknown Pleasures" into a three-dimensional form, offering a new perspective. A pulsar diagram visualizes the pulsed radio waves emitted in short intervals of seconds or milliseconds.

By extracting parts unsuitable for manual work and converting them into data, more intricate accessories were created. This collection fully expresses the strengths of both handmade and machine-made craftsmanship.

The "INDEX" series, inspired by alphabets, allows you to choose and combine your favorite letters. It's a playful touch reminiscent of nostalgic "index stickers."

Individual parts are laser-engraved on 4mm pipe material, with a few millimeters of margin left on both sides. After engraving, both sides of all parts are cut off in a secondary process, intentionally creating an uneven finish to evoke an organic feel. The use of cassette cases for product packaging is also an interesting playful detail.

Another item features the collection's theme words arranged as an accessory. Using Formica, a reinforced synthetic resin, for the ring material creates a strong yet light and warm expression.

For the leather bracelet, the eyelets of the snap buttons are installed in reverse. This symbolizes the punk spirit of captivating many without conforming to norms.

Accompanying these series, the sounds of the 3D printer's work during the prototype creation process are recorded onto cassette tapes and included as a novelty with each item. This is an attempt to stimulate the sense of hearing with audio and imbue the inorganic products with warmth.

Additionally, the lineup includes the "FREE BALLPEN," a recreation of the pencils distributed at horse racing tracks, made from sterling silver 925, and the "+-SCREW PIERCE" earrings, which feature a pair of positive and negative screws.
